the Sphinx was most familiar from ancient Egypt, but showed up in Greek myth, in the story of Oedipus. the demon of destruction n bad luck, Sphinx (daughter of Typhon n Echidna) had a head n chest of a woman, the body of a lion, the wings of an eagle, n a serpent headed tail. she would asked passersby to solve riddles. if failed, she devoured them. she told Oedipus the answer, to make him love her. he left without thanking her. it destroyed her n she doesn't re-appear in Greek mythology anymore.
