Video Downloading

want to download video from youtube/facebook the easy way (without add-ons)? read on.

1. don't close the browser after finished watching/loading the video in Firefox.

2. go to C: \ Documents and Settings \ user \ Local Settings \ Application Data \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ Profiles \ aelgg58.default \ Cache

note: the folder in Bold could vary from one computer to another, try them one by one.

3. inside the Cache folder, right click to "Arrange Icons by Size", scroll to the bottom of the page. the larger the file type, the higher the chance of it being a video. add a file extension ".flv" to any chosen file.

4. (download n) use the FLV player to play the file.

there you have it! convert the file with any media converter to a more familiar file type (mp4, mpg) if you want. still unsure how to do it? here is a more detailed video of it in Youtube.

go to Menu > Settings > Connectivity tab > Internet Settings, there are 2 options - Connect Using n Allow local conn. set Allow local conn. to Yes.

next go to Connect Using > Option > Create New, select PS data. for the 2 fields - put in anything you like for Name n leave APN blank. press Save n an empty profile is created. select that profile you just created under Connect Using.

Microsoft, Yahoo vs. Google?

after months of rumors, Yahoo n Microsoft finally announced a 10-year search deal on Wednesday (July 29th, 2009). an effective way to battle Google? under the deal, Microsoft will power Yahoo's search with Bing search engine while Yahoo manage the sales for both companies' advertisers. no money involved, just ad revenue. the deal is expected to close in early 2010, but it will take about 2 years to fully integrate the 2 companies' systems.

if you find it shocking that Yahoo, after Google, one of the most popular search engine, is giving up its core business, it is not true. Yahoo applied Google search engine into its site for nearly 10 years now. Yahoo's formal search engine was the least effective, lacking scalability.

will this be the new era?

the latest news is "on the 1st of April, all infected computers will be controlled by a master machine located somewhere across the web". would it be denial of service? stealing of personal data? wiping out the hard drives? or malware pop-ups?

anything is possible at this point.

it is advised that genuine windows are patched, n make sure the antivirus n anti-malware software is actually running, since Conficker may have disabled it. better safe than sorry!
