Molly was a lonely waitress that was heavily in debt and in college. one day she met with a talkative jewelry store clerk, Gus. Molly was interested in getting to know Gus, but she also found him mysterious. he always seemed absent-minded and preoccupied. actually Gus had a problem. he can remember everything that happened before a terrible day in his life in 2009. for anything more recent, he relied on reminders, files, even recordings. every time he went to sleep, he would forget everything and had to relive everyday by reading the file he created for such purpose.
at first glance, the film seemed like a happy if not simple romance. but almost immediately after Gus was introduced, things became interesting. it was straightforward enough to understand that Molly and Gus belonged together, but with his sickness as the greatest obstacle, his unwillingness to admit the problem to her had turned the romance into something so difficult for everyone to handle, even to us viewers. at some point after all the truth came out, the film got less intense and much more romantic. it was difficult to imagine Molly going through with reminding Gus of who she is everyday for the rest of her life, but i supposed it wasn't the purpose of the film. in overall, the film was thoroughly enjoyable and engaging.
