they fought to be the ruler, to be the strongest warrior. regardless of the weapon, nor the species, they only needed to be female n older than 12 years old. the fights were broadcast throughout the world. the first season only included the gathering of all participants n their training attempts. the fun has yet to come! a lighter version of Claymore, which i still prefer over this one.
