Takao was a shoemaker trainee. he skipped school, spending time sketching shoes in a Japanese style garden. one day, he met a mysterious woman named Yukino, who was older than him. without purposely arranging time, the duo started meeting each other again and again at the garden, but only during rainy days. the deeper their relationship got, the more they opened up to each other, but the rainy season was coming to an end soon.
another film that combined masterful talent with bittersweet and emotional storyline. the story focused on the romance between a 15-year-old boy and a 27-year-old woman. Takao felt uncertain towards his future, and Yukino felt that she doesn't belong in the society. while the possibility of such a relationship was wide, little were explored. for as long as the duo met, talked, even falling in love, the confession only came at the very end, giving it little time to proceed any further. dialogues played a huge part of the film, where Takao's dream was revealed, but unfortunately couldn't bring a happier ending to the unrequited love.
