Owens resigned from the LAPD after their mission failed and his team destroyed, and became the Sheriff in a small town called Summerton. in the meanwhile, a wanted drug dealer named Cortez escaped from an FBI convoy, racing through the wilderness towards the border. it happened that his destination was right beside Summerton. once he slipped across the border, he would be impossible to capture forever. unwilling to put his town in danger, Owens decided to confront Cortez with the intention of bringing him down.
the story was fairly straightforward despite the mass amount of characters introduced. after watching Escape Plan (2013), this film was every bit disappointing especially after seeing so many clown-like characters in it. instead of being funny or humorous, they turned out to be very annoying. Owens and Cortez were both believable and likable characters. their confrontation was intense even satisfying to watch. the multiple bloodbaths were highly memorable.
