Pitch Black (2000)

Pitch Black

a space transport vessel carried about 40 people crashed landed on a deserted planet. among the 12 survivors were pilot Fry, bounty hunter Johns, religious man Iman, antique dealer Ogilvie, teenager Jack, lovers Zeke and Shazza, and Riddick, a dangerous convict. they explored the land for places to escape the strong sunlight, but later found that it had 3 suns. the survivors worried themselves over food, water, shelter, and the fear of being killed by Riddick. but when an eclipse that happened for every 22 years took place on the planet, they had flesh eating creatures emerging from underground, feasting on them. their survival was slim, unless they learned to rely on Riddick for his enhanced eyesight.

not being a huge fan of science-fictions, i found myself absorbed into the film with every scene Riddick was in it. like every one of its sequels, Riddick was the good guy despite being a runaway criminal. he was tough and filled with more than enough confidence to drive everyone among the survivors insane. the twist of having Jack, the teenager being truly a girl instead of a boy like she was originally portrayed, was smart. without the luxury of budget, the film turned out to be extremely impressive, which explained the sequels after this installment.
