Still Mine (2012)

Still Mine

Craig and Irene were getting old. with the change of times and regulations, they were no longer able to make a living from their small farm. Irene begun to show signs of early dementia. while their 2 children hoped to see more care provided for Irene, Craig insisted on taking care of her while milling lumber on their property to build a small house for them to live in. as much as he wanted to start building, authorities got involved as he was forced to go through regulatory processes such as applying for permits and blueprints, facing one roadblock after another just to earn them a house to live in.

the film was interesting until the building part. it shared the life of 2 elderly couple who depended on each other for the remaining of their lives. their relationship was engaging, the love they shared was definitely obvious and contagious to us viewers. despite Craig strong personality, seeing Irene suffered was the biggest challenge as she became incapable of looking after herself. despite being heartbroken of losing Irene to dementia, there were still plenty of tender moments shared between the duo.
