unlike the Fate/Stay Night series that adapted the serious earthly atmosphere, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya (2013) was different, taking place in an alternate universe, becoming a spin-off to the original series. instead of Saber, the main character was Illya. in this alternate universe, she was a school girl. one day, she stumbled upon Kaleido Stick Ruby, who had the ability to turn her into a magical girl.
the series was much more straightforward compare to its originals. Illya's character was slightly different from the previous series as well. here, she was a cheerful girl that grew up in a seemingly normal childhood, with plenty of friends and happiness. everything changed after she became a magical girl. the series added quite a number of fan-services and moe. unfortunately, some dull moments caused by Illya's nativity was unavoidable. with little resemblance to its original series, this installment was more of a childlike magical series that highly resembled Puella Magi Madoka Magica (2011).
